PANAJI: A comprehensive career guidance programme titled Career Jagor has been introduced in Goa to support students at crucial academic stages. The initiative, designed for Classes 10 and 12, was formally launched at Kala Academy in Panaji and will be implemented across the state starting April 24.
The programme is spearheaded by the Goa State Council of Educational Research and Training in collaboration with key education departments, including school, higher, technical, and skill development authorities. Its core objective is to provide structured and accessible career guidance to students, helping them make informed decisions aligned with their interests, strengths, and future opportunities.
A significant component of the initiative involves training nearly 600 teachers as “Career Ambassadors.” These educators will serve as mentors within schools, ensuring that students receive consistent and reliable career advice. The approach aims to bridge gaps in awareness and equip students with the knowledge needed to navigate an increasingly dynamic job landscape.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant highlighted the importance of timely guidance during Classes 10 and 12, describing them as defining phases in a student’s journey. He noted that while students already possess aspirations, it is the role of teachers to nurture and guide them effectively.
He also pointed to the expanding range of career options available today, including fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, biotechnology, cybersecurity, digital media, tourism innovation, and entrepreneurship. Emphasising the need for adaptability, he stressed that continuous learning, skill development, and reskilling are essential for long-term success.
Encouraging a shift beyond traditional career paths, he urged educators to motivate students to explore diverse opportunities that align with their individual capabilities. Referencing the vision of Narendra Modi, he underlined the importance of youth empowerment and called on teachers to embrace their responsibilities with dedication.
Senior officials from various education departments and institutions were present at the launch, along with teachers from across Goa, marking a collaborative step toward strengthening career awareness in the state.
