PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that River Information System (RIS) based on Radar, VHF, Weather Sensors, Marine CCTV surveillance is being established with the help of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) in river Mandovi.
“River Information System (RIS) based on Radar, VHF, Weather Sensors, Marine CCTV surveillance is being established with the help of Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI) in river Mandovi and Consultants are working on the DPR which will be ready shortly. This will help in safe navigation as well as ensure security in the river,” said CM Sawant
He further said that no new lighthouse has been installed across the rivers of Goa since last three years.
“40 no’s floating jetties proposed in the State. 100% funding from Inland Waterways Authority of India (IWAI); These floating jetties are for tourism related activities only for carriage of passengers,” he added
Sawant said Mormugao Port Trust (MPT), now Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) is the Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) for this project by virtue of MoU signed between Inland Waterways Authority of India(IWAI), Mormugao Port Trust (MPT/MPA) and Captain of Ports Department and further the tendering process for installation of floating jetties was commenced in year 2018.
“which was much before the guidelines of for floating jetty, by Ministry of Port ,Shipping and Waterways (Sagarmala Cell), but as per the scope of contract, the contractor has designed the floating jetty and same design is proof checked by National Technology Centre for Ports Waterways and Coast (NTCPWC-IIT Madras),” he added
