PANAJI: Saligao MLA Kedar Naik along with farmers met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant demanding hike in support price.
“We have met the CM and discussed our demands with him, he was positive. He has also asked us to meet the Agriculture Department on Monday” said Naik.
The MLA said that basically they had two demands of one being support price and others related to harvesting,” said Naik.
He further said that the farmers are not eligible for subsidy if the harvesting machine takes more that 1 hour.
“Due to the rains, the fields have begin soggy hence it takes time for harvesting; CM has assured us to look into matter” he added.
Combine harvesting machines will support our hardworking farmers to harvest the fields during the harvesting season said Saligao MLA Kedar Naik.
Naik said that Saligao is the largest village with maximum number of farmers.
“Saligao delivers the highest peak when it comes to agriculture,” he added.
Kedar also said that he will be meeting agriculture department director on Monday to solve the issue regarding harvesting machines.
