PONDA: Sanjivani Sugarcane farmers have expressed concern over the government’s decision to implement VRS to Employees and demanded government clear its stand on the future of Sanjivani Sugar Factory.
The Farmers felt there were fewer chances of realizing the Government Ethanol project due to the VRS policy for workers.
Later briefing to media, Rajendra Desai said the farmers did not receive the subsidy amount declared by the government.
The government should have honoured the deadline set for restarting the Factory.
He said the government’s decision to give VRS to employees has created doubts in the minds of Sugar Can producing farmers.
He also feared that the government may not start the ethanol project and demanded that the government clear its stand and make a Concrete decision on the future of Sanjivani Sugar Factory.
The farmers called a general body on 25 June to discuss over future of the Factory.
The farmers meeting was Chaired by its president Rajendra Desai wherein they said the government should declare its concrete decision on the future of Sanjivani Sugar Factory instead of continuing promises.
“It’s four-year crushing season has been closed, and farmers were assured Ethanol project and employees of the Factory to employ in the Ethanol project. However, as the proposed ethanol project is not yet started, there is confusion in farmers’ minds,” they said.
