PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Goa Government would sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sadhguru’s Isha Outreach to save soil on August 23.
“Goa Government will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Sadhguru’s Isha Outreach to save soil on August 23,” said CM.
He further said that the event would be held at Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee stadium in the presence of Sadhguru.
Chief Minister spoke of the importance of soil for our survival and affirmed that the state would take the lead in conserving the soil.
Sadhguru launched the Movement to Save Soil in March this year to prevent a phenomenon that UN agencies are referring to as ‘soil extinction’ – the death of fertile soils worldwide posing an existential threat to the human race.
Sadhguru was on a 100-day, 30,000-km lone motorcycle journey across Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East to build consensus for urgent policy-driven action globally to prevent soil extinction.
The Movement comes in the wake of the alarming degradation of fertile soils worldwide, posing a clear and present threat to global food and water security. In India, nearly 30% of fertile soils in the country have already become barren and are incapable of yielding.
