Panaji: Goa’s table tennis community is set for an exciting new chapter as the inaugural Saxtti UTTTC (Ultimate Table Tennis Team Championship) takes place on May 17, 2026, at Gomant Vidhya Niketan in Margao. Organised by the Saxtti Sports and Cultural Club, the tournament promises a lively mix of competition, teamwork, and sporting spirit.
The championship will introduce a dynamic team based format featuring some of Goa’s most experienced paddlers alongside current state players, former champions, and rising young talent. Eight teams will compete in the event, namely Smash and Dash, Nivian Vipers, Kiran Titans, Nopex Ninjas, Goa Superkings, Sameer Spinners, GCC Paddlers, and Uniqlo Warriors. With several leading players representing the teams, spectators can expect closely fought matches and high intensity action throughout the tournament.
Among the prominent names set to participate are Wesley Do Rosario, Chandan Caro, Ishita Colaco, Anushri Naik, Samaira Soares, Dhruva Kamat, Pradnya Caro, and Shantesh Mapsekar, all of whom are expected to add quality and excitement to the competition.
The organisers believe the event will not only strengthen the sport’s popularity in Goa but also encourage greater participation among youngsters and amateur players. The club has quickly established itself as an active promoter of sports in the state, with a wider vision of developing table tennis and badminton across different age groups while also supporting cultural and social initiatives.
Club president Dr. Brennan Tavares highlighted the importance of maintaining a lifelong connection with sports, noting that regular participation helps promote fitness, discipline, teamwork, and personal growth. The club also plans to conduct more tournaments in the future and expand participation at the school level to further strengthen Goa’s sporting culture.
