COLVALE: Serious concerns have emerged over security and inmate safety inside Colvale Jail after another violent assault was reported within the prison premises, marking the second such incident in less than a week.
According to sources, an inmate was allegedly attacked by fellow prisoners inside the jail and sustained injuries in the assault. Following the incident, prison authorities reportedly arranged immediate medical assistance before shifting the injured inmate to Mapusa District Hospital for further treatment.
The repeated incidents of violence inside the state prison have raised serious questions over internal security arrangements, supervision of inmates and the overall law-and-order situation within the correctional facility.
Sources said growing tension among prisoners and recurring assault cases have become a matter of concern for both authorities and the public. The latest incident has once again brought attention to the need for stricter monitoring and stronger preventive measures inside the jail.
