Ponda: Serials Chess Club successfully conducted two chess tournaments simultaneously on September 5 and 6, bringing together 190 participants at Saad Market Plaza in Upper Market, Ponda.
The two day event featured the 7th Serials Classical Chess Tournament for FIDE rated players and the 8th Serials Rapid Chess Tournament for unrated participants. The tournaments attracted strong enthusiasm from chess players and provided competition across both categories.
In the rated section, Vihaan Tari claimed the top position, with Rejmon Fernandes finishing second and Advaith Prasanna taking third place.
The unrated tournament saw Silas Fernandez emerge as champion. Kanish Sudhir secured the runner up position, while Aditya Amit finished third.
The event was attended by Chief Guest CM Niraj Saripalli. The tournaments were conducted with the support of officials and organisers, including FA Tanishq Kavlekar, who served as Chief Arbiter for the unrated section, and FA Anushka Naik, who oversaw the rated section.
Michael Ferrao, SNA Abhishesh Prabhu Dessai and Deepali Manerikar also contributed to the smooth organisation of the competitions.
Serials Chess Club expressed appreciation to the parents of players from Serials Chess Academy for their support and contribution to the successful conduct of the event.
The club congratulated all the winners and participants for their performances and thanked everyone involved in organising the two tournaments. The successful completion of both competitions marked another significant event for the chess community in Ponda.
