PANAJI: Goa Forward MLA Vijai Sardesai has demanded Vigilance Inquiry in Khelo India over recruitment and catering contract irregularities.
Raising the question during Question Hour Sardesai slammed the government for the irregularities in the recruitment of staff and tender for catering, which he said was an exorbitant price.
“I want a Vigilance inquiry. I will write a detailed letter to Govt post assembly session on this Khelo India Scam,” said Sardesai.
Exposing the recruitment and catering scam in Khelo India, Sardesai said, 16 people from Priol were appointed without any formalities and food was procured at double the rate.
“The recruitment was carried out even after CM rejected the file and asked for taking staff from Goa Human Resource Development Corporation,” he said.
Replying to this the minister said the recruitment was carried out in an emergency.
“We could not wait as the centre had started and whoever qualified we got we took them,” he said.
Then Vijai raised the issue of catering saying, “The Sports Authority of India’s daily food allowance is 470-500 but in Goa is Rs 1500. How can the rates be justified? Are you giving five-star food?”
This also, Gaude said, this too was done in an emergency as there were not enough bidders and whoever they got was charging exorbitant.
“We have floated tender again and we will negotiate and get the best prices. The rates are high as instead of three meals, the sportsmen have to be given six meals,” he said.
Taking objection to this, he said, saying “Shah Jahan has become a policy model for Goa Govt.”
“Kala Academy tender was urgent, Khelo India recruitment an emergency, food catering becomes an emergency. This is done without following codal formality. How can everything be an emergency,” he said.
Sardesai charged that the State Cabinet was also kept in the dark.
