PANAJI: Union Minister Shripad Naik stated that the party would decide on his candidacy for the LS elections, but added that he would be willing to run for office a sixth time if given the chance.
Naik responded, “I am always ready for the polls,” when asked by The Goan if he was prepared for the LS elections. However, I am unable to claim the ticket because the party will make that decision.
But in any case, he continued, “I will remain with the BJP until the day I die.”
Naik also expressed his gratitude to the populace for providing him the chance to serve them for five terms, during which he was able to bring about the development initiatives that Goa much needed.
Speaking earlier at the birthday party, Naik disclosed that he had received offers from the Congress to run as one of their candidates.
“Congress leaders like Dr. Wilfred D’Souza and Subhash Shirodkar approached me about joining them. But I declined since the BJP was a unique party that worked to fight corruption while simultaneously advancing the welfare of all people, he said.
