PANAJI: Manipal Hospital Goa marked World Liver Day with a dedicated awareness drive focused on educating the public about liver health and the importance of preventive care. Centred on the theme “Solid Habits, Strong Liver,” the initiative highlighted how consistent lifestyle choices play a vital role in maintaining long term well being.
The event brought together healthcare professionals and community members to address the rising incidence of liver related conditions and the need for timely diagnosis. Discussions emphasised that many liver diseases develop silently and can be effectively managed or prevented through early detection and healthier daily habits.
As part of the initiative, the hospital introduced a specialised Liver Day Health Check Package aimed at encouraging proactive screening. The package includes a comprehensive set of tests such as liver function assessment, screening for hepatitis B and C, ultrasound imaging of the abdomen and pelvis, along with consultation from a gastroenterology specialist. This approach is intended to help individuals gain a clear understanding of their liver health status.
Hospital Director Surendra Prasad underlined the significance of awareness campaigns in improving overall health outcomes. He noted that liver health is closely linked to general wellness and stressed the importance of equipping people with the right information and tools to prevent disease. He added that initiatives like these aim to encourage early diagnosis and promote healthier lifestyle decisions within the community.
Medical experts from multiple specialties, including gastroenterology and oncology, contributed to the programme by sharing clinical insights. They highlighted that conditions affecting the liver are often preventable and manageable when addressed at an early stage. The specialists also encouraged individuals to adopt balanced diets, avoid harmful habits, and undergo regular health check ups.
The observance reflects the hospital’s continued efforts to strengthen community outreach and advance preventive healthcare through education and accessible medical services.
