MARGAO: District Election Officer (DEO), South Goa, Ms. Egna Cleetus, IAS, reviewed election preparedness and the progress of various election-related activities during a video conference with Electoral Registration Officers (EROs). The meeting also focused on preparations for Special Camps on Voter Enrolment to be conducted across the district.
During the review, the DEO directed EROs to hold physical meetings with Sector Officers and Sector Police Officers within two days to brief them on their duties and responsibilities and strengthen coordination at the field level. They were also instructed to complete and submit certificates regarding the handing over of VM-1 to Sector Officers.
The locations of Static Surveillance Teams (SSTs), which have been identified by the EROs, were reviewed, with directions to communicate the details to the DEO’s office shortly. EROs were also asked to update and submit accurate data on Assured Minimum Facilities (AMF) available at polling stations.
The identification of critical and vulnerable polling stations and expenditure-sensitive Assembly constituencies was reviewed, with emphasis on strict adherence to the guidelines issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
The DEO also reviewed the status of deleted voters and preparation of the list of deleted cases. EROs were directed to provide accurate and updated data, manually verify all deleted cases against the pre-Special Intensive Revision (SIR) electoral roll, and finalise the list.
Progress regarding meetings with Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) was also assessed. EROs were instructed to share photographs of these activities with the media and upload them on the respective Assembly constituency social media handles.
Regarding voter enrolment camps, EROs were directed to issue necessary orders wherever required and ensure that the camps become functional at their designated locations. The mapping of Persons with Disabilities (PwD) voters was another key area of review, with instructions to accurately record the type of disability of each voter and submit updated data to the DEO’s office on priority.
The meeting also reviewed the status of rationalisation proposals relating to certain Assembly constituencies, activation of social media handles, arrangements for photographers at camps, and vehicle and videographer requirements for the forthcoming election.
The processing of applications received under Forms 6 and 8 was also reviewed, with EROs instructed to complete the necessary procedures at the earliest.
Emphasising the importance of timely action, data accuracy and effective coordination, the DEO directed all concerned officials to ensure that election preparedness measures are completed within the stipulated timelines and in strict compliance with ECI instructions.
