MARGAO: District Magistrate, South, has constituted a local Complaints Committee for South Goa District under section 6 of the sexual Harassment of Women at work place under the Chairmanship of Neha A. Naik Panvelkar.
The other members on the Committee are Auda Viegas, Smt. Nimisha Faleiro, Adv. Patsy Da Silva, Anand Gaude, Sister Deepti Kuruvilla. The District Welfare Officer. The Directorate of Social Welfare and the District Programme Officer, Directorate of Women and Child Development.
The committee is empowered to receive and inquire into complaints of sexual harassment as defined under section 2 (n) of the Act and in term of the chapter 4 and 5 of the Act.
All inquiries and proceedings conducted by the committee shall be in accordance with the principles of natural justice and the procedure prescribed under the Act.
The Block Development Officers and Chief Officers of Municipal Councils of the South Goa District are designated as the Nodal Officers at the Block and Taluka level respectively to receive any such complaints and forward the same to the above local complaints Committee.
