The State government has banned the use of N95 masks with respiratory valve as it fails to prevent virus from escaping.
The circular issued by Under Secretary Heath Trupti Manekar, says that the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has informed that there is an inappropriate use of the N-95 mask (particular with valved respirator) by the public other than designated health workers.
“It is also brought to the notice that use of valved respirator N-95 masks is detrimental to the measures adopted for preventing the spread of Corona Virus as it does not prevent the virus from escaping out of the mask,” the circular says.
It further says the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has therefore requested to instruct all concerned to follow the guidelines on the use of face mouth cover and prevent inappropriate use of N-95 masks as available on the website of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.
“The above guidelines of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare are hereby circulated for strict implementation of all concerned,” the circular says.
