MAPUSA: The Mapusa Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) held meeting with pubs and restaurants in its jurisdiction at Anjuna, Siolim, Vagator and Assagao and urged them to take safety measures to avoid accidents.
DySP Jivba Dalvi has urged the clubs, pubs, and restaurants located in the Anjuna and Siolim areas to ask drunk patrons to avoid driving cars.
Dalvi focussed stressed on need to promote the use of taxis and prioritise safety of their customers.
Dalvi also stressed on importance of reporting any accidents involving tourists who, while enjoying Goa’s scenic beauty and beaches, might lose control due to alcohol consumption.
Dalvi highlighted the need for reporting such incidents to the police station rather than resorting to confrontations or demanding compensation for vehicle damages, reiterating that handling such situations isn’t within civilians’ purview unless the tourist is willing to address it voluntarily.
