FATORDA: Fatorda MLA and Goa Forward Party (GFP) Chief Vijai Sardesai today has asked the Health Minister Vishwajit Rane to submit a detailed a plan for South Goa District Hospital.
“Within 15 days Minister Vishwajit Rane must submit a detailed a plan for South Goa District Hospital. Failure to this there will be agitations everyday,” said Sardesai
He further said the Chief Minister should explain whether the government is batting for the private medical college when taxpayer’s money to the tune of Rs 900 crore is spent on the district hospital.
“AIIMS is Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s pet project. Around 16 AIIMS have been set up across the country in the last nine years. Goa too could get AIIMS at South Goa. Instead, the Goa government is batting for the private medical college,” he lamented.
Vijai said that the BJP government says that the NITI Aayog had recommended setting up of private medical colleges in district hospitals.
“This is a general recommendation and not specific to Goa or South Goa. In that case, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is pushing for hospitals across the country on the lines of AIIMS. Why is the Chief Minister and the Health Minister not inviting AIIMS to South Goa when the basic infrastructure is ready.” he added
