VASCO: Vasco MLA Salkar gets assurance from South Western Railway to give the additional height of 1.5 to 2 metres to Mangor bridge to ease the movement of emergency vehicles under this bridge.
It is well known that people from the Mangor area face this problem daily when the private bus and emergency vehicles find it very difficult to pass under this bridge from the Mangor area near Hotel Taniya due to the low height of this existing bridge.
On Friday, the private bus operators association submitted a memorandum to Vasco MLA Salkar and put forth the problem they face daily due to this bridge.
Later, Vasco MLA Salkar told reporters that he had a discussion in the presence of Minister for Transport Mauvin Godinho and the South Western Railway representatives on Thursday in which a suggestion to elevate the height of the existing bridge by 1.5 to 2 metres was put up. The railway representatives have agreed to this suggestion.
Salkar further said that for many years due to this bridge, in case of emergency, fire tenders, ambulances, and heavy vehicles don’t pass through this road, and they have to choose another road via Chicalim circle, which is almost 5 to 6 km distance. If some height is given to this bridge, it will ease emergency vehicles’ movement,” he said.
Vasco MLA also said that he had a word with the Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant, regarding this matter, and he immediately sent a Fax to the Railway minister. I expect that soon these changes will be implemented for good,” Salkar added.
