PANAJI: Newly appointed Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo said that the resumption of sustainable mining should be the government’s priority.
“Resumption of sustainability is important. Mining will give revenue as well as generate employment. The fat budget presented by the government recently will go flat if mining is not started,” said Lobo speaking to reporters after taking charge.
Lobo said that Congress would be the voice of the people of God and shall be aggressive whenever required and that agitations would be taken to a logical end, and the government would be told what to do.
He further said that Congress will work as a constructive opposition and take up issues affecting Goa and Goans.
As the leader of the opposition, he said he would work unitedly with AAP, RG, and alliance partner Goa Forward.
“I will meet AAP and RG MLAs. I have already met alliance partner Goa Forward’s Vijai Sardesai,” said Lobo.
Reacting to BJP State President Sadanand Tanavade’s statement, Lobo said only Tanavade knew what he was speaking off.
“His remark alluding that money was paid by me to become a CLP leader is cheap and childish. His party should decide the effect of these kinds of remarks on the party itself. The people of Goa are watching,” he added.
