DAVORLIM: Maina Curtorim Police are investigating a theft case reported at Davorlim, Salcete, after a rented room was allegedly broken into and several valuables, along with a scooter, were stolen.
According to the complaint filed by Irshad Mangalwad, a resident of Davorlim and originally from Haliyal, Karnataka, the incident took place between 12.10 am and 10 am on September 2, 2026.
Police said an unknown accused allegedly gained entry into the complainant’s rented room by breaking open the door lock and stole one gold necklace, elevator lift material, a Wi-Fi router and a laptop. The exact value of these items is yet to be ascertained.
The accused also allegedly stole a TVS Ntorq scooter, which was parked in an open parking area beside the rented room. The scooter is valued at approximately ₹1 lakh.
During the investigation, police arrested Ismail Shaikh, a resident of Davorlim, in connection with the crime.
Further investigation is being conducted by LPSI Veronica Coutinho of Maina Curtorim Police Station.
