CANACONA – Two educational Institutes (one Higher Secondary and another High-School) were targeted by unknown culprits in Canacona taluka.
According to Canacona police, Satyawati Soiru Angle Higher Secondary School (SSAHSS), Dapot-Maxem (in Loliem-Polem) and Shri ShadhanandVidyalaya, Poinguinim were broke open and the culprits decamped with a cash of Seventy-Seven Thousands on two consecutive days in a similar looking modus operandi giving indications that either same person or a same gang had struck both the Institutes located across the NH-66 Road.
Meanwhile, Canacona police have registered the complaints and have virtually launched a manhunt, but police are yet to round-up any culprits or suspects involved in the robbery.
According to sources , the thief/thieves have entered the office of S S Angle Higher Secondary School in Dapot-Maxem by breaking open the main door. Once inside, the culprits gained direct access to the Principal Office, Staff-Room and Administrative office from where Rs.8500 were looted and kept in a Cupboard and the thieves could lay their hands on another One thousand rupees from the second cupboard. Moreover, a mobile, a smart watch kept for children at this place has been stolen and taken away. However, a tab located at the same place was left untouched by the suspect’.
Interestingly, this higher secondary school has CCTV facility and according to Principal Hemant Kamat, only one person is caught entering and committing the theft. The Culprit however had a veil over his head which also covered his face. The suspect also had socks on his hands and boots on his feet assumable not to leave back any finger or foot prints. The CCTV footage is already given in police possession to help in the investigation, informed source.
At Shri Sraddhanand Vidyalaya at Painginim, the theft came to light when the main door was opened, where the lock of the main door was found broken apparently with an iron rod as per the information revealed Headmistress Seema Prabhugaonkar.
The locks of the principal’s cabin and Administrative Office have also been found broken alongwith the cupboard in the main office. Files and important documents were scattered all around. Moreover, cash of 67,000 was found looted from the UDC’/Head Clerk’s Drawer. The culprits however did not touch a mobile phone and a tablet at the same place, while another 30,000 cash kept in the Drawer of LDC/junior clerk came in the hands of the culprits and was taken away.
Canacona Police Inspector Chadrakant Gawas said that the investigation of these two back-to-back two thefts have been speeded up and soon the culprits would be caught.-
