PORVORIM: Director General of Police (DGP) Goa Jaspal Singh IPS today said that thousands of cyber crimes are taking place in India, and Goa is not an exception.
“Thousands of cyber crimes are taking place in India, and Goa is not an exception. If all the people share the necessary awareness on cyber crimes, then Goa will be a Cyber Crime free state,” said Singh.
DGP was speaking on the ocasion of Cyber Jagrookta Divas. During this occasion, all computer teachers of government schools were given as Cyber Shikshaks, who shall further spread awareness among the students.
He further said that the government of India has launched a cyber crime reporting portal wherein the complainant can register their complaints, and then the complaint would be forwarded to the police station.
DGP said that in today’s world, cyber crime has no limit as well as no geography and that the criminals show expertise and loot people, hack their accounts and grab money.
“Mobile phone users fall into their traps, and while responding to their appeals and messages and the next moment, bank accounts are empty. Like CCTV system, there is a need for a camera to detect criminals and inform the police on time,” he said.
Goa Police have launched an initiative to take the assistance of IIT and engineering graduates having skills to detect and control growing cyber crimes by using and sharing their knowledge.
Also, DGP Jaspal Singh and 37 other police personnel of various ranks have enrolled themselves on the postgraduate diploma programme in Cyber Laws, Cyber Crime Investigation and Digital Forensics.
