New Delhi: In a significant achievement for women’s cricket in Goa, three young cricketers from the Goa Cricket Association have been selected to participate in the prestigious BCCI U 19 Girls Inter CoE Tournament 2026, scheduled to be held at the BCCI Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru from May 30 to June 10.
The selected players are Vidhi Bhandare, Usma and Harshita Yadav, who have earned recognition for their consistent performances and promising talent in the junior cricket circuit. Their selection is being viewed as an important milestone for Goan women’s cricket and a reflection of the growing opportunities for young female cricketers in the state.
The tournament, organised under the banner of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, will bring together some of the most talented under 19 players from across the country. The event is expected to provide a valuable platform for emerging cricketers to showcase their skills at the national level and gain exposure in a highly competitive environment.
Former Ranji player and GCA President Mahesh Dessai congratulated the players on their achievement and extended his best wishes for the tournament. GCA Secretary Tulshidas Shetye and members of the association’s managing committee also praised the young players for their dedication and hard work.
The Goa Cricket Association stated that the selection of the three cricketers highlights the steady progress of women’s cricket in Goa and reflects the success of the association’s efforts in identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.
Officials expressed confidence that the players would perform strongly during the tournament and continue to inspire more young girls in Goa to take up cricket professionally. The achievement is also being seen as a positive sign for the future of women’s cricket development in the state.
