PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant gave the go-ahead for the start of mining again when he informed the state legislature assembly that the government would begin auctioning off iron ore dumps in October and that three more iron ore mining blocks would be put up for auction in the next fifteen days.
In response to inquiries about the industry, Sawant stated that one company had already started the iron ore mining operations.
One of the nine blocks up for auction has begun operations, and two businesses have received environmental clearances. Within the next 15 days, two more mining blocks in South Goa and one in North Goa will be put up for auction, he stated.
Regarding minor minerals, the Chief Minister announced that the sand mining court case would be resolved shortly and that the government would begin issuing licenses for sand mining this year, which should be done in a traditional manner.
“The parties concerned can begin extracting sand in the traditional manner after paying royalty once licenses are issued,” he stated.
According to Sawant, the government has revoked the agreement with the agency that was tasked with creating a document for Viskit Goa in 2047.
“In accordance with the central government’s Viksit Bharat-2047, we will establish a new agency by adhering to the standards set forth by the central government,” he declared.
Sawant added that women’s self-help groups registered with rural development agencies had received packaging licenses from the legal metrology department.
He hoped that Swayampurna Chaturthi E-Bazaar would do well this year.
