BICHOLIM: Prompt intervention of the Chief Minister and the efforts of the WRD has resulted in restoring the water of Tillari canal.
As per the sources the Tillari waters to Goa will be supplied to farmers from tomorrow as the breached canal at Maharashtra has been restored.
It may be recalled that last week the Tillari canal had given way causing problem for the farmers from Goa including those from Sal and border areas.
On this occasion, the entire team of WRD under the guidance of Chief Minister, Dr Pramod Sawant and Water Resources chief Engineer, Shrikant Patil took the initiative and without relying on the Government of Maharashtra the Chief Minister ordered to carry out the repair work.
Contractors and machinery from Goa was sent for the repairs. Farmers from Bicholim Pernem and Bardez area will thus have a sigh of relief.
Speaker Rajesh Patnekar also followed up on the issue regularly and has congratulated the Chief Minister and the Water Resources Officer.
Water will be available for agriculture in the state from Sunday
