PANAJI: Toyota Kirloskar Motor [TKM] announced the launch of a 60h T-TEP institute at Montfort Academy, Goa, with the support of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), Automotive Skill Development Corporation (ASDC). The primary objective of this initiative is to enhance the student’s skill sets with a special focus on rural areas, thereby strengthening their employability through the company’s unique training initiative, namely Toyota Technical Education Program (T-TEP).
The inauguration event was graced by Dr Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government of Goa, Rajesh Faldessai, Hon’ble MLA, Government of Goa, in the presence of Mr Arindam Lahiri, CEO, ASDC, Vikram Gulati, Country Head & EVP, TKM, Mr B. Padmanabha, VP, TKM, Rev. Bro. Chandy Sg from Montfort Academy and, Shrinivas Pawar, Dealer Principal, Sharayu Toyota.
Aimed at generating talented and technically skilled professionals for the automobile industry, T-TEP strongly contributes to India’s “Skill India” mission. With T-TEP, thus far, TKM is associated with 60 ITIs/Polytechnic Institutes covering 24 states across the country. Currently, more than 12,000 students have been trained, and 70% of the students are working in various automobile company dealerships in the country.
On this occasion, Dr Pramod Sawant, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Government Of Goa, said, “Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s initiative, in collaboration with Montfort Academy, Goa, will have a big impact towards developing highly-skilled, employable, and future-ready youths. These collaboration efforts by industry partners like Toyota, which are aligned with the Government of India’s Skill India Mission, will support in bridging the existing skills gap and help develop a world-class workforce in the state of Goa.”
Expressing his view, Arindam Lahiri, CEO, ASDC, said, “Toyota is known for its exceptional quality products and services, which stems from developing world-class people, processes, and necessary infrastructure. T-TEP is continuously growing and adapting to the changing needs and dynamics of the auto industry, and this initiative is an important step to further enhance skill development with a special focus on providing opportunities for youth to learn and excel.”
Present at the inauguration, Vikram Gulati, Country Head & EVP, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said, “Automotive industry is growing tremendously and since 2006, T-TEP has become a benchmark by adopting exceptional training modules, thereby benefitting the automotive service industry and society at large. Through the T-TEP initiative, we develop talented youths by equipping them with world-class training on advanced technologies. Our collaboration with Montfort Academy, Corlim, Goa will strengthen the talent pool from the grass root level and provide opportunities for youth with a special focus on rural areas”.
Talking about this partnership, Rev. Bro. Chandy Sg said, “With advancements in technology in the auto industry and unprecedented growth in motorization, we need to ensure that the consumers receive the best-in-class services, especially in rural areas. To align with this requirement, we will need highly skilled technicians to ensure that students at technical training centres have access to advanced technologies and gain hands-on training experience. With this collaboration, students at Montfort Academy, Corlim, Goa will get an opportunity to understand Toyota’s values, best practices, and advanced technologies, which will benefit not only the students but also the entire industry, thereby contributing toward the Skill India Mission.”
Talking about this initiative, Mr Shrinivas Pawar, Dealer Principal, Sharayu Toyota, said, “As a part of this initiative, Toyota will support the institute with the latest curriculum covering automobile fundamentals, safety, Toyota values and basic soft skills. The company, along with its dealer partner, has invested over Rs 1 million towards infrastructure, e-learning contents, engines, transmissions, and practice kits and training the institute’s faculty through its unique Train-The-Trainer approach.
In addition, Sharayu Toyota will also support them by providing On-Job-Training to these students. The Montfort Academy, Corlim, Goa will effectively adopt this program via the T-TEP syllabus and enable the students to undergo the on-the-job training.”
