COLVA: In order to promote Goa as a wedding destination, the tourism department will share Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s viewpoints and market the country as a single-window wedding destination come next year.
After kicking off the three-day Spirit of Goa festival on Friday, Minister of Tourism Rohan Khaunte told the media at Colva that the tourism sector is an industry that must take advantage of new opportunities rather than a department.
Goa tourism will be promoted as a single-window wedding destination in light of the Prime Minister’s emphasis on promoting the nation as a wedding destination. Travel is not a department but an industry. Given that tourism makes up approximately 16.43% of the GDP, we must greatly increase it. Additionally, the sector employs a lot of people (35% direct and indirect), according to him.
Using this platform, the tourism minister gave the people of South Goa the assurance that Mopa and Dabolim would coexist in the state. He even criticized politicians for dividing the country along geographical lines over the airport issue, even though the government has made it clear that both airports will coexist.
He said that the government understands the need to promote tourism in South Goa as well. “We are marketing MPT as a cruise terminal when the project could have been moved to Aguada by the government.” In a similar vein, we supported tourism in the South by hosting the World Beach Volleyball Championship in Colva, South Goa. The government is dedicated to boosting tourism in South Goa, and the region has a sizable inventory of hotels, the speaker continued.
The Minister of Tourism emphasized the importance of reaching out to tourism markets worldwide rather than just focusing on Russia and the UK.
We are visiting the Arabian Travel Mart in order to highlight Goa as a top travel destination. I have asked the Chief Minister to bring the bureaucrats to the ATM so they can profit from the travel industry.
“I’m happy to report that the Goa stall at the Indian pavilion was among the best. The Indian Ambassador and the Consul General gave us a pat on the back for providing such a lovely staff. We can’t conduct business in one location. He declared, “We have to go and tap emerging tourism markets.”
