PANAJI: Drishti Marine lifesavers rescued a tourist from Karnataka from drowning off Calangute beach and provided first aid to a woman from Pune who injured her leg while walking along Sernabatim beach over the weekend.
At Calangute beach, a 21-year-old tourist from Karnataka narrowly escaped drowning after venturing into deeper waters while searching for a jewellery ring he had accidentally dropped into the sea.
According to Drishti Marine, the tourist was initially standing in knee-deep water when the ring slipped from his hand and fell to the seabed. As he continued searching for it, he gradually moved into deeper waters and soon began struggling.
Alert Drishti Marine lifesavers Maphijul Mistri and Rana Kumar Yadav immediately responded to the emergency. Using rescue tubes, the duo reached the tourist and safely brought him back to shore, preventing a potential tragedy.
In a separate incident at Sernabatim beach in South Goa, Drishti Marine lifesavers attended to a 33-year-old woman from Pune who twisted her foot while taking a walk along the beach.
The woman was promptly administered first aid by the lifesavers and assisted back to her hotel.
Drishti Marine has once again urged beachgoers and tourists to exercise caution while entering the sea and to follow the instructions of lifesavers to avoid accidents.
