PANAJI: Transportation of 20 tonne of wet waste from Sonsodo site to Cacora waste treatment plant has commenced since the last few days, the high Court was told by the Margao Municipal Council.
Directions to this effect were given by the High Court to MMC is its previous hearing. MMC also informed the court that the work order for fire equipment mandated by the court will be given by tomorrow.
The matter is posted for hearing next week. Meanwhile no intervention in the matter as was decided in its meeting yesterday.
In the meeting CCMC has passed a resolution to the effect that no garbage from areas other than Quepem, Dharbandora, Sanguem, and Canacona will be allowed for treatment at the Cacora waste treatment plant.
The council had also decided to file an intervention application in the high court as a means to seek legal redress.
During the last hearing on the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) writ petition filed by the Citizens For Sonsoddo, the High Court had directed the GWMC to start transporting 20 MT of wet waste from Margao municipal area to the Cacora SWM plant on daily basis so that its treatment can start from September 1.
Meanwhile no intervention in the matter was filed by the Curchorem-Cacora municipal council as decided in its special meeting on Monday.
During the meeting, the CCMC had passed a resolution demanding that no garbage from areas other than Quepem, Sanguem, Canacona and Dharbandora will be allowed for treatment at the the newly built Cacora SWM facility.
