VASCO: The second edition of TriGoa-Navy Duathlon was held at INS Hansa on 13 March 2022. The event was open to public participation and included a 5 km run followed by 40 km cycling. A total of 250 participants, comprising service personnel, their families and civilians, took part in it.
The event was flagged off by Commodore Ashish Goyal, Naval Officer-in-Charge (Goa). Rear Admiral Philipose G Pynumootil, Flag Officer Commanding Goa Area, gave away the prizes to winners. Milind Tambe, a naval veteran and cycling enthusiast who recently cycled 6000 km to promote the cause of plastic-free coasts, was the Guest of Honour.
Pradyum Naik and Rita Yadav were declared winners in the men’s and women’s open categories, respectively. In the master’s category, Lt Cdr Rakesh Dutt Balooni and Ms Shefali Coulecar bagged the titles.
Elaborate arrangements were made by INS Hansa and TriGoa to ensure a safe and memorable duathlon for all participants. The Indian Navy band was in attendance, encouraging the participants with enthralling tunes. A Zumba session was also arranged for the participants to warm up prior to the commencement of the duathlon.
