New Delhi: The controversy surrounding alleged irregularities in donations linked to the Ram Temple project in Ayodhya is moving towards a significant phase, with legal proceedings now appearing increasingly likely.
As the Special Investigation Team prepares to submit its final report in early July, discussions within sections of the Sangh ecosystem have reportedly gathered momentum around the need for formal legal action rather than limiting the matter to internal reviews or administrative scrutiny.
The SIT recently submitted its preliminary findings to the state’s Home Department and is understood to have recommended the registration of a First Information Report as part of the investigation process.
Sources familiar with the developments indicate that there is growing sentiment that if allegations regarding financial discrepancies are under examination, the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust itself should take the initiative in seeking accountability through legal channels.
The Trust is now expected to file an FIR in the coming days, a move that would represent the first major legal step by the institution directly linked to the case. Senior members associated with the Trust have suggested that a final decision will likely follow the submission of the SIT’s comprehensive report.
Within the wider Sangh Parivar, the emphasis appears to be on transparency and accountability rather than political considerations. The prevailing view is that any individual found responsible for wrongdoing should face action under the law following a fair and impartial investigation.
The possibility of the Trust becoming the complainant is viewed as significant because it would demonstrate a willingness to actively pursue accountability if irregularities are established, while also reinforcing confidence in the institution’s commitment to transparency.
At the same time, reports suggesting that the government could appoint an administrator or receiver to oversee the Trust’s functioning have been dismissed by officials, indicating that there is no proposal under consideration for institutional intervention.
As investigators prepare to place their final findings on record, Ayodhya could soon witness an important development in one of the most closely watched controversies linked to the Ram Temple project.
