MAPUSA: After a fight with his daughter, Calangute police have detained a UP native on suspicion of abusing an 11-year-old girl.
The defendant, Gautam Verma, who was born in Uttar Pradesh but now lives in Calangute, is charged with several offenses, including assaulting a youngster and verbally abusing him.
According to reports, the victim was riding in a school transport vehicle from Arpora to Mapusa when the tragedy occurred.
Verma and his wife allegedly approached and abused the young girl, intensifying an earlier argument between their daughters, according to the complaint the girl’s father made.
Following a prompt response to the allegation, Calangute police detained Verma in accordance with many legal provisions, including Section 352, 115 (2) r/w 3(5) BNS, which deals with assault and the use of criminal force other than in response to extreme provocation.
Additionally, Verma was prosecuted under Section 8(2) of the Goa Children’s Act 2008, which deals with safeguarding children from exploitation and abuse.
