MAPUSA: Residents of Anjuna and Vagator, who have been without water for four months, became agitated and staged a demonstration at the Public Works Department (PWD) headquarters. They demanded an urgent solution.
According to the villagers, many of the people now rely on natural water sources like wells or water tankers because their taps have been dry since June, even with heavy rainfall.
Protesters noted that the acute lack of drinking water is also a key worry and that the increasing number of new business operations has exacerbated the situation.
They claimed that some of these buildings have illegal water connections, while the ordinary villagers are left out even though all the necessary permits are in place.
Alongside the residents, local panchayat members threatened to intensify the protest against the PWD if the problem was not rectified quickly.
