Will move Private Member Resolution in upcoming session demanding Opinion Poll to be celebrated state function
Sarpanch Joseph Sequeira blames govt & Lobo for for forgetting promise on Dr Jack Sequeira statue
FATORDA/ CALANGUTE: Goa Forward president Vijai Sardesai and Calangute sarpanch Joseph Sequeira targetted the State government on Opinion Poll Day.
Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai today said that those who wanted a merger with Maharashtra are running the state Government today.
Sardesai was addressing the gathering during the Opinion Poll Day celebrations.
“Those who wanted a merger with Maharashtra are running the state Govt today. Goa Forward will move a Private Member Resolution in the upcoming session demanding Opinion Poll to be celebrated as official state function” said Sardesai.
He further said that it’ll be a grave mistake if we see the Opinion Poll only as an anti-merger event, and overlook the powerful message of ever-lasting Goemkar identity, brotherhood, and unity, its stalwarts like Dr Jack Sequeira intended.
“Goemkars wherever they are in this world are Goemkars, and their physical absence in #Goa should not be an excuse to exclude them from our political, economic, cultural and social discourse,” he added
Vijai said that his party was formed on this day to emphasise our absolute commitment to our unique identity, culture and heritage, and establish a Goemkar First policy in governance.
“My initiative of Goemkars Without Borders upholds our belief that across nations and continents, our identity holds us all together, and only by our combined efforts based on the feeling of oneness, can #Goa go forward,” he added.
Vijai also said that Goa must adopt a policy of inclusion and not of exclusion.
“On this day, I reiterate my party’s and my personal commitment to the cause of Goemkars everywhere, and pledge to safeguard their interests in our state. My best wishes to all on this day,” he added.
Meanwhile, Calangute Village Sarpanch Joseph Sequeria accused the BJP government and Calangute MLA Micheal Lobo for ignoring the development of the constituency.
He said that panchayat is spending its own fund for various developmental work.
Sequeira also recalled that MLA Michael Lobo, while holding the position of Deputy Speaker had assured to install statue of Dr Jack Sequeria in the Assembly complex.
“He was supported by Vijai Sardesai. However down the line, both have forgotten the leader,” he said.
