PANAJI: Leader of Opposition Michael Lobo today said that vindicative politics have no place in democracy and that it’s happening not only in Goa but across the country.
Lobo was speaking regarding Congress Leader Rahul Gandhi being summoned for a case in the national capital.
“Our leader Rahul Gandhi is being summoned for an ancient case. As the elections come closer, the number of summons also increases. Vindictive politics have no place in a democracy, and it’s happening across the country,” said Lobo.
He further said that even in a small state like Goa, we could see vindictive politics against the opposition; this should be stopped.
“We are a democratic country, and there are attempts to silence us. Attempts to divert our minds from main issues like unemployment and inflation and instead, we are made to fight among ourselves,’ said Lobo.
Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Ferreira said that there is no offence against Gandhi as giving of a loan and payment of a loan is not criminal offences. At the most, there could be a civil matter which is a matter of the Congress party.
“The vendetta politics which is prevalent throughout in BJP ruled states and now can be seen spilling on the roads,” he added
Meanwhile, Ferreira said that if BJP doesn’t learn its lessons and take corrective actions, then people will come out on the roads and teach the BJP governance. BJP is targeting personally to score political brownie points. By putting people in jail, it will rebound on the BJP.
