PANAJI: Union Minister for Tourism G Kishan Reddy today kicked up a major controversy ahead of elections as he said that his ministry will let Goa become a Casino Capital of India if the state benefits from such a move.
“The public has already given Goa the name as the casino capital of the country; we will let Goa become a Casino capital of the country if the state benefits from this move,” said Reddy while addressing the media.
He further said that tourists from across the country come to Goa and visit the casinos.
“Casinos are no stranger to tourists; they are well aware of the casinos here,” he added.
Reddy said that Tourist officers were appointed in 20 embassies last month.
“This is to promote India as a tourist destination as well as facilitate tourists from countries that have the highest footfall in India,” the Union Minister said.
The Union Minister said that his ministry is working in close coordination with Health Department, Civil aviation dept., Home Affairs and External Affairs dept. to help tourists who are visiting India.

With both domestic and international tourists visiting Goa in large numbers Union Minister for Tourism Kishan Reddy said that his ministry has decided to pay special attention to Goa to promote tourism.
“Both domestic & international tourists visit Goa in large numbers; hence the Ministry of Tourism has decided to pay special attention to Goa to promote Tourism,” said Reddy
He further said that Goa is one of the prominent states in the Tourism sector and most world heritage sites are here in the state.
“To commemorate 75 years of India’s Independence, top 75 destinations to be developed on international standards.
All departments have given their comments; action on developing the destinations will start once approved by the Cabinet,” he said
Reddy also said to open tourism subdivision offices in embassies of all countries from where tourists come to India.
“Those who are getting vaccination should get completely vaccinated with two doses of COVID19 vaccine this will help to revive the Tourism sector at a much greater speed,” Reddy appeals to citizens.
Reddy further said that the charter flights that were supposed to arrive in Goa now look gloomy with the new strain of COVID19, but the domestic tourist inflow has been increasing.
“Domestic tourism is seeing an upward trend in the country; Currently there is a discussion on the third wave of COVID19; I request people to strictly adhere to COVID protocol during their visits to tourist destinations,” he said.
Reddy said that as India celebrates 75 years of independence and as Goa celebrates 60 years of its liberation, the government is making every effort to develop Tourism infrastructure in the state.
Centre orders ASI PROBE
into illegal structure

PANAJI: Union Minister for Tourism Kishan Reddy has ordered investigation through the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) into the alleged illegal Construction in the protected area of Old Goa Heritage Zone.
The Construction is owned by BJP National Spokesperson Shaina N.C husband, Manish Munot.
“I have heard about the illegal construction at heritage zone in Old Goa and have asked the ASI to investigate into the matter and further take the necessary action as per law,” said Kishan Reddy.
The ASI has already nailed the TCP and the owners over the illegal construction.
The document produced for permission reveals there is a photograph of a house (copy
enclosed) that the house in the photograph exists in village Pernem, District North Goa.
