MARGAO: Colva Police have initiated an inquiry following the death of a 40-year-old man from West Bengal who was declared brought dead at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), Margao.
According to police, information was received on May 1, 2026, at around 1.05 pm from the medical officer at SGDH Margao regarding a patient who had been brought dead to the casualty ward.
Police visited the hospital and identified the deceased as Ananda Biswas, a resident of West Bengal.
During inquiry, the owner of a seafood shack at Benaulim informed police that the deceased had been working at the shack for the past two days. On Friday, he was reportedly found lying unconscious and was immediately shifted to SGDH Margao, where the doctor on duty declared him brought dead.
The body has been preserved for further medico-legal formalities.
Further inquiry is being conducted by PSI Anil Krishna of Goa Police at Colva Police Station.
