PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant announced that should the project’s approvals be found to be unlawful, he has directed Minister of Town and Country Planning (TCP), Vishwajit Rane, to withdraw them.
“We will rescind permissions, including conversion, approval, and environmental clearance if they are not appropriate. If the project ends, it is not a problem for us. Projects that will put the people through hardship will not be approved,” Sawant declared.
“We are committed to upholding the law and prioritizing the public interest,” the CM declared. Any initiative that contradicts the desires of our people will not be approved by our government.
The Chief Minister was responding to inquiries from the media about the recent controversy involving the Bhutani project at Sancoale. “In actuality, files related to large or small projects do not reach the Chief Minister,” Sawant stated.
He recommended that in order to prevent future problems, megaprojects that require clearances from many departments be approved by the CM in his capacity as Chairman of the TCP Steering Committee. This will guarantee accountability and transparency.
These kinds of initiatives are interdepartmental in nature, and in the future, they would require approval from other departments for things like water supply and sewage. It is crucial to include all departments in this process. CM Sawant stated.
However, based on the viral video, it seems that this use dates back to 2007. According to Sawant, if there are any infractions, he has directed TCP Minister Vishwajit Rane to shut down the project.
