CANACONA – With the post monsoon rains subsiding, several roads particularly village streets are crying for attention giving a tough time to motorists in various parts of Canacona.
Many of the roads are however, with the approved tenders and even work orders issued are awaiting either black-topping or Hotmixing in various parts of the taluka including interior village roads.
While, the Palolem beach street (just recently/before monsoon tarred giving a decent look, almost all the streets of Agonda (another tourism belt) paints a sad note particularly the road leading to beach gives sore sight to the visitors.
The tourists important village(Agonda) had however something to cheer about as PWD led Jetpacker is noticed repairing one of the many potholes dotting the Church road at Desaiwada on Friday.
‘After lots of efforts and persuading the we could convince PWD to bring the Jetpacker and get the potholes attended’, Agonda Sarpanch Preetal Fernandes, who alongwith ex-sarpanch Fatima Rodrigues were physically supervising the works
Interestingly, one of the spot which has been developing potholes throughout the monsoon rains inspite of repairing it several times, is one of the few potholes repaired by the Jetpacker, had to carry out dressing of over 12ft x 12f tar-carpet.
The Jetpacker however repairing three other potholes spots and left leaving behind much of the road unrepaired, locals alleged.
Locals also alleged that repairs are carried out half-hearted leaving many spots unattended and vulnerable to trh motorists.
According to sources, the pre-mixed repair material got exhausted after carrying out repairs of large spots and the Jetpacker would be brought back to repair the remaining spots.- END
