PANAJI: According to the Union Ministries All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE), the Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) of women in higher education in Goa was lower than men as compared to previous four years.
In contrary to this, nationwide the representation of female students in higher education in India marked its all time high at 2.07 crore in 2021-22 as per the report.
The AISHE is the main source of comprehensive statistics on the Higher Education scenario in the country.
In 2021-22, the GER for male was 36 as compared to 35.5 for female. Total of 32,176 male and 27,664 female enrolled in higher education in regular mode in 2021-22.
For previous years, the GER and enrolment stats are as follows – 2020- 21 : Male – 30.8 (25,287), Female – 37.3 (28,057) , 2019- 20 : Male – 26.9 (22,325), Female – 34.2(25,542), 2018- 19 : Male – 29.8 (24,176), Female – 34.9 (25,459), 2017- 18 : Male – 28.2 (21,062), Female – 32.1 (22,830).
Moreover, government-run colleges constituting 21.5 percent of total colleges contributed 34.8 percent of total enrolment. Private (aided) colleges comprising 13.3 percent of total colleges accounted for 20.6 percent of enrolment.
