Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has called for a stronger and more proactive counter-terrorism strategy across the Union Territory, directing security agencies to intensify area domination, surveillance and operations against terror networks and their support structures.
Chairing a high-level security review meeting in Srinagar, Sinha assessed the overall security situation and the preparedness of security agencies. He directed officials to maintain heightened operational vigilance and ensure close coordination among different agencies to prevent threats and protect peace and public order.
The Lieutenant Governor also called for sustained action against narco-terror networks and praised the Jammu and Kashmir Police and other security agencies for their efforts against drug smugglers. He stressed the need to further strengthen operations targeting the links between drug trafficking and terrorism.
Emerging threats in the cyber domain were also discussed during the meeting. Sinha instructed authorities to closely monitor social media platforms and take effective measures against anti-national propaganda, digital misinformation and online blackmailing.
Senior officials, including Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat and the Principal Secretary of the Home Department, briefed the Lieutenant Governor on the security scenario. Divisional commissioners and senior police officers also presented updates on anti-terror operations, law and order, drug trafficking and other emerging challenges in their respective areas.
Sinha stressed that maintaining public confidence is an important part of the security strategy. He directed police officials to strengthen direct engagement with citizens by setting dedicated hours for public interaction and grievance redressal.
He further emphasised that complaints must be handled with sensitivity and that investigations should remain fair, transparent and impartial. The Lieutenant Governor said continuous engagement between the police and public would be essential for strengthening trust and maintaining lasting peace across Jammu and Kashmir.
