PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today informed that 100 TPD Cacora solid waste management facility will be inaugurated in November.
CM Sawant chaired the 13th Board of Directors meeting of Goa Waste Management Corporation (GWMC) in the presence of the Minister for Science, Technology & Waste Management and Vice-Chairman Atanasio Monserrate.
“It was decided to inaugurate the 100 TPD Cacora solid waste management facility in the month of November 2022. GWMC will now initiate trading in carbon credits for the waste management initiatives taken by them, thereby earning revenue,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that the newly developed website of GWMC was also inaugurated in the presence of the Board of Directors of GWMC.
BOD approved the design for the model manned waste transfer station and the model cloth recycling station for used cloth recycling under ‘POTI’ scheme for the free distribution of recycled cloth bags in exchange for used clean cloth at Mormugao.
Minister for Waste management Atanasio’ Babush’ Monserrate recently said that the State government is committed to making Goa a garbage-free State by 2027.
He said that the GWMC is setting up a third plant at Bainguinim for Central Goa, while a fourth plant is proposed to be set up at Verna Industrial Estate to handle waste from Mormugao Taluka and some parts of Salcete.
