PANAJI: The High Court of Bombay at Goa has granted bail to Sadiq Bellary, arrested by the Maina Curtorim police in the case of the murder of Muzahid Khan.
Sadiq has been released on a personal bond of Rs 25,000. According to police, on May 28, 2020, at Bhagwati Colony, Davorlim, the accused initiated a quarrel with Javed Panwale and his friend, the deceased Muzahid Khan.
The accused, Sadiq Bellary, first assaulted Javed with slaps, and then he brought an iron rod which he carried on his scooter and attempted to assault Javed Panwale; however, Javed Panwale snatched the iron rod and, in turn, hit the accused, Sadiq with the iron rod, on his head.
The accused, Ismail Mulla Chuto, aged 23, of Bhagwati Colony, Cotta, Davorlim, then brought a knife and stabbed the deceased Muzahid Khan in his stomach, who later on succumbed to the injuries while undergoing medical treatment.
During the investigation, it was revealed that on May 28, late evening Mohammed Javed (22), a vegetable seller from Davorlim and the deceased Muzahid, was sitting in an open place at Bhagwati Colony, Davolim. At about 11 pm, one Sadiq Bellary and Ismail Mulla came on bikes and picked up a quarrel with Javed, resulting in a fight.
Accused Ismail Mulla and Sadiq Bellary were arrested and booked under Section 302 of IPC, while Javed was arrested under Section 326 IPC for assaulting Sadiq on his head with a rod.
