CANACONA: A 22-year-old woman from Jashpur, Chhattisgarh, was found dead at her rented residence in Canacona on August 12, 2026.
Police received information from the Community Health Centre (CHC), Canacona, at around 2.40 pm that the woman had been brought to the hospital by a 108 ambulance and was declared brought dead.
During the inquiry, police learned that the woman had been staying with her partner, Vishnu Ram, also a native of Jashpur, Chhattisgarh. The couple had reportedly been in a live-in relationship for the past six years and had been working in Goa for around four years.
According to police, at around 12.30 pm, Vishnu Ram was working at Loliem when he noticed an Instagram story posted by the woman. He immediately rushed to their rented residence and found the main and rear doors locked from inside.
He subsequently gained entry through the rear door and found the woman inside the kitchen. He lowered her and shifted her to CHC Canacona with the assistance of a 108 ambulance, where the doctor on duty declared her brought dead.
Police conducted the scene-of-occurrence and inquest panchnamas before referring the body to South Goa District Hospital, Margao, for post-mortem examination.
The police surgeon conducted the autopsy and certified the cause of death as asphyxia resulting from constriction of the neck, with the injury found to be fresh and ante-mortem.
After completion of the necessary procedures, the body was handed over to the deceased’s family members for final religious rites.
