PANAJI: A senior clerk at the Institute of Psychiatry and Human Behaviour (IPHB) has been suspended for allegedly embezzling ₹24 lakh from staff salaries over a period of five years.
According to sources, an internal inquiry was initiated after a staff member raised concerns about discrepancies in loan and insurance premium deductions from their salary.
The investigation revealed that the accused had been diverting the deducted funds to their personal account. The suspension was handed down two days ago, pending further action.
The incident has raised concerns about financial oversight and accountability within the institution.
