MAPUSA: Authorities have closed five fast food restaurants near Mapusa’s Alankar Theatre because they lacked the required licence from the Goa State Pollution Control Board (GSPCB).
Many food sellers in Mapusa city, particularly fast food and restaurant entrepreneurs, were operating without getting the required licenses from the board, according to a survey done a few months ago by the GSPCB.
As a result, the establishments in question received show-cause notices from the GSPCB.
The Bardez Sub-District Magistrate was asked to seal the five fast food restaurants and submit a report regarding the non-compliance with the GSPCB regulations.
The five fast food restaurants were sealed on Tuesday after the SDM instructed the Bardez mamlatdars to take the appropriate action.
“Several businesses in Mapusa City that were discovered to be operating without a licence received show-cause warnings from the GSPCB.
“On Tuesday, steps were taken to seal these establishments,” GSPCB Chairman Mahesh Patil stated.
