Ranchi: The Jharkhand Crime Investigation Department (CID) has arrested seven people after conducting coordinated raids across multiple districts in connection with the alleged Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) examination scam.
The arrests were made in Case No. 16/2026 as investigators executed warrants against individuals accused of involvement in irregularities linked to several competitive examinations conducted by the JPSC. Those arrested have been identified as Aditya Pandey, Pawan Kumar Singh, Ravishankar Kumar, Santosh Kumar Singh, Sanand Prakash, Lalu Kumar Yadav and Saurabh Kumar Pandey.
As part of the ongoing investigation, CID teams searched several locations across the state and collected additional evidence. The agency has also begun matching OMR carbon copies obtained during the probe with examination records to verify suspected manipulation and establish the authenticity of the results.
Officials said the investigation is progressing continuously and that further legal action will be taken against anyone found involved based on the evidence gathered.
The crackdown comes amid growing public outrage over alleged irregularities in JPSC and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission (JSSC) examinations. On August 13, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised protests in Ranchi, New Delhi and several other cities, demanding a court monitored CBI investigation and strict action against those responsible.
Demonstrations were also reported in Lucknow, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Varanasi and other university campuses across the country. Protesters called for the cancellation of the JSSC CGL examination and fresh recruitment tests wherever irregularities are established.
Meanwhile, student aspirants have continued their sit in protest at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi, insisting that the state government restore the credibility of the recruitment process and ensure a transparent investigation into the alleged examination scam.
