PANAJI: The arrest of two individuals from Andhra Pradesh and Haryana marked a significant advancement in the Crime Branch’s continuing probe into the illicit operations of escort websites.
The defendants are Mohammad Mohebbulla, 30, of Gurugram (Haryana), and Syed Usman, 54, of Chittoor (AP).
According to CB SP Rahul Gupta, the defendants ran the escort website “safewalkgoa.com,” where they reportedly uploaded pornographic pictures of women and helped customers and agents communicate.
The accused individuals used to communicate the aforementioned message to the other agents upon consumer confirmation. Customers could use the Paytm mobile app, Google Pay, or cash to make the payment. In the process, the accused was given a commission,” he stated.
The investigation also found that the defendants were running comparable escort service websites in Bangalore, Chennai, and other significant Indian cities. “This investigation’s website has already been taken down,” the SP continued.
78 websites engaged in similar operations have been shut as part of a joint CB and Cyber Crime Cell crackdown.
These defendants are being held by the police. To find other people involved in this network, more research is being conducted,” Gupta, who also leads the Cyber Crime unit, continued.
