MAPUSA: Colvale police arrested one Vithal Kharvat involved in thefts of smartphones in Colvale, all worth Rs. 17,500/-approx.
According to Colvale police on Monday, upon the complaint of Rupesh Kumar, Age-25 residing near Tivim Railway station, Thivim Bardez Goa, N/o: Khajuraha, ward 0, 5, Khasurha, Saharsa, Bihar, to the effect that on between 12/02/2023 at about 22:00 hrs to 02:00 hrs in an open place at near Thivim Railway station, Thivim Bardez Goa, some unknown person/s committed theft of two mobile phones (1) mobile Phone make Lava 10, along with sim Card No. 9142902025, which were kept 1n an open place near the pillow of the complainant while the complaints were sleeping belonging to the complainant and his friend Ramkishor Adivasi an offence stands registered vide Colvale P.S. Cr. No. 14/2023 U/s 379 IPC,
During the course of further investigation, all the possible efforts were taken to establish the identity of the unknown accused persons involved in the crime. Further, formed police team and deputed to search of accused person/s and to trace the stolen property. During conducting the search of the accused person, the suspected person Vithal as stated by the complainant was traced and apprehended near Thivim Railway station, and he was brought to Colvale police station tor further interrogation. On asking, the said person disclosed his name as “Vithal s/o Sonu Kharvat, age- 27 yrs, Occ- waiter R/o near Thivim Railway station, Thivim Bardez Goa”. Further, the said Vithal Kharvat was interrogated at length, wherein he confessed to his involvement in the commission of the above crime and stolen property, i.e. two mobile phones were attached to his possession.
Accordingly, said accused person Vithal Kharat was formally arrested in the Colvale P.S. Cr. No. 14/2023 U/s 379 IPC on 13/02/2023 at 17.38 hrs after informing him of the grounds of his arrest.
All S.C. guidelines are observed accordingly. Further, said accused person is lodged in Lock-up. The above-accused person is being produced before the Hon’ble JMFC Court Mapusa.
