MARGAO: Madganvcho Awaaz & Youth Leader has launched a public campaign titled “Aamka Naka Rent-A-Car”, raising serious concerns over increasing road accidents involving rent-a-car vehicles in Goa and urging citizens to unite for stronger enforcement and accountability.
Naik said that reckless speeding, dangerous overtaking and irresponsible driving by rent-a-car operators have turned Goa’s roads into “death traps”, leading to repeated fatalities and injuries across the state.
Referring to recent incidents, he stated that on May 26 a rent-a-car vehicle allegedly hit a woman rider in South Goa, while another accident reported in North Goa claimed the life of a youth and left a minor injured.
“These are not isolated cases anymore. There is a growing pattern of negligence and fear among citizens due to rent-a-car related accidents,” Naik said, adding that he has already urged the government to take strict corrective measures.
He criticised what he described as a lack of urgent response from authorities, alleging that administrative focus has been diverted elsewhere while road safety concerns continue to escalate.
Calling for a mass public movement, Naik appealed to citizens to record short videos with the slogan “AAMKA NAKA RENT-A-CAR” and share them on social media platforms to build pressure for action.
He also urged people to actively participate in the campaign to ensure stricter monitoring and regulation of rent-a-car operations across Goa, stating that public unity is essential to prevent further loss of life.
Naik reiterated that the objective of the campaign is to safeguard innocent lives and ensure safer roads for all commuters in the state.
