ANJUNA: The Comunidade of Anjuna’s extraordinary general body meeting on Sunday decided against allowing Sunburn to play electronic dance music (EDM) at Vagator on December 31.
President Domingos Pereira of the Comunidade of Anjuna governing committee said that that the gauncars in attendance at the meeting determined that the Sunburn event would only be permitted for three days, from December 28 to 30.
“We just have three days to give them the space. Not on the 31st of December. Not at all. Everybody in the area is against it. We cannot accept terms that the organizers set,” stated Pereira.
According to Pereira, the decision was made to charge the organisers more than Rs 2.43 crore for the three-day event and to only grant a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) in exchange for an upfront payment of 15% of the entire cost.
“Sunburn will be responsible for paying the cost if they are required to arrange the event. The cost per square metre will be Rs 51 for them to pay. Only they will be granted authorization to host the event if they pay the required sum, according to Pereira.
